Henri Paul Perrault was born in Versailles, France, in 1867. He exhibited works in Paris at the Salon of French Artists, becoming a member in 1899. He won a 3rd place medal in 1896 and a bronze medal in 1900 at the Universal Exposition. He is best known as a genre and history painter. This monumental work is one of his best.
