Another artist of the last century who was eminently skilled, yet not as well-known to most art collectors. Look closely at this wonderfully composed still-life painting – that this is a scholar’s desk goes without saying. A hint of trompe l’oeil suggests that you may be able to pick up those glasses and read the titles of the books and the pages lying beneath.
