Charles H. Clair is a well-known French artist and engraver who is best known for his paintings of charming bucolic pastoral compositions featuring sheep, cows, horses, and chickens. His work includes rustic landscapes and harvest scenes, and compositions featuring women washing laundry and shepardesses. He also produced landscapes and still-life paintings. His work was regularly exhibited at the Salon d’Artiste Francais, where he became a member in 1913.
