Edward Holmes (British, died 1893) Leading the Way
Oil on canvas, 17 x 21 inches / Signed lower left
Take a moment with this painting. Notice what it stirs in you. Not decor, but a story you get to keep looking at. This is the piece people ask about the moment they walk in.
Edward Holmes was a Victorian genre and landscape painter. This painting is framed in a period gilded Victorian frame. His works have been sold at such fine venues as Sotheby’s London, Bonhams Chester and Christie’s South Kensington. The saturation of colors in this rustic genre scene are wonderful.
