Shalders painted in Wales, Hampshire, Surrey, and Yorkshire, and Cork, Connemara and Kerry in Ireland. In 1863 the London Observer noted that Shalders combines “the accurate delineation of animal life with the charm of landscape.” Shalders was a member of the Institute of Painters in Water Colors (1863, associate, 1865 full member). he was elected an Associate, and in 1865, a member of the Institute of Painters in Water-Colours.
