Sidney Lawrence Brackett (1852-1910) was born in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. “Sid”, as he was known, studied under artist John B. Johnson and, Boston portraitist, Frederick Porter Vinton. Many of his charmingly clever paintings of kittens and puppies, as well as some landscapes, have come to market, examples of his sporting art remain somewhat elusive. Brackett was a member of the Boston Art Club where he also exhibited.
